Yep, that title was bait and yes I deserve that look. Some of you, perhaps most of you will decide to bounce off at this point in the story and flip a jersey bird at me. I can definitely tell you that this title is absolutely 100% true for folks that had the prior Samsung Gear VR edition and had the amazing experiences and spent time in numerous forums looking for diy hacks to solve their dilemmas.

Here’s why…

In an article last year from Gizmag, a few issues were brought up regarding the experience with the Samsung VR. Gizmag mentioned that the overheating issues with the headset that were common with the Note 4 version of the Gear VR were basically “Kaput” in the GS6 version, thanks to an internal fan. It continued on to suggest that with the new Gear VR , it might sometimes take an hour before getting an overheating message… And if you were still insistent on that immersive experience, Gizmag suggested that you aim an external fan at your head essentially providing you with a no limit time window for your experience. Can you imagine what the early adopters had to put themselves through for an immersive experience!!

Folks will also remember the forums and forums full of discussion around the foggy situation. Well, if the table fan aimed at your headset managed to cool your immersive experience, you had to deal with the lens fog. Ah-ha. Cheapest way suggested was to use an anti-fog lens cleaner. A basic one or perhaps the

hi-tech Nanoskin NA-ATF16 from Amazon prime for $18.20 if you were going on a long drive with your headset!

And if latency with the headset was an issue or throwing up or nausea of course there are some pills for that too for a few dollars more, suggested in other forums.

$30 dollars is way less in costs. As early adopters of new technology, folks had to put up with some of these experiences in the past. Users had spent a lot of time researching the experience issues in the past releases which add up to the costs.

Introducing Samsung Gear VR new edition!!

With the new $99 Samsung Gear VR announced today for pre-orders, for folks that had experienced issues in the past, I am very optimistic that the new device will save you us least $30 dollars as explained above. The new Gear VR is expected to have sub 20ms motion-to-photons latency. It is also reported that the new Gear has resolved all the overheating issues. The new Gear VR is 19% lighter than the previous Innovator Edition and features improved ergonomics plus a completely redesigned touchpad for easier navigation. Gear VR is also compatible with even more Samsung smartphones, including the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, S6, and S6 edge. A ton of content is already available at the Oculus arcade and not to forget the YouTube VR experience. Preorders are already available today at Best buy and Samsung today.

And by the way they are not waterproof. If it heats up again, you cant use them in the pool.
